It’s time to learn about a very important number in todays lifestyle
My friend and i were talking the other day about the latest mobiles and what they offer, after some time we were browsing the web and checking info when we first noticed about SAR.
I am ashamed to say, but neither I nor he knew what SAR radiation was and how much was emitted by our cell phones.
We were obligated to search find and present you info about this type of radiation.
First, let’s see what SAR really is:
The SAR value or otherwise Specific Absorption Rate shows to what extent the radiation emmited by a source is absorbed by the body and is unique for each device.
The mobile phone manufacturers even give two values, one for the head and one for the body, where the head is always greater the dose due to the full operation of the device when talking with our interlocutor and because the distance between the device and the our head is very small.
In Europe, the maximum allowed value is 2.0 W / Kg in 10g of tissue, while in the US 1.6 W / Kg in 1g of tissue.
The lowest – ideal SAR value that we can succeed in mobile is 0.4. Most devices though come with values is from 0.4 to 0.7, and we must avoid phones that have from 0.7 to 1.
Unfortunately, the SAR radiation is one of the characteristics that we look the least when we intend to buy a new smartphone, although it should be, while most companies (if not all) are already putting the SAR radiation in the “fine print” in the features of their devices.
Before seeing what SAR radiation values have the most popular smartphones sold in our country at this time, I am obligated to urge you to use a hands free or Bluetooth headset when talking on mobile (i am talking for the ones that do not already).
